SURVEY OF NEW FISHING VESSELS BY MCA FROM 20 JULY 2020

From 20 July 2020 the MCA will assume the work currently undertaken by Seafish to oversee the construction and outfit of new fishing vessels of less than 24 metres Registered Length.

The MCA would like to advise that if you currently are in the process of building a vessel you should have recently received a letter from Seafish advising you that if the vessel construction is not completed by 10 July 2020, your contract will be terminated and any outstanding balance held by Seafish will be refunded. The letter will also advise of the difficulties experienced by Seafish during these unprecedented times to fulfil their responsibilities to oversee the construction and outfit of new fishing vessels of less than 24m Registered Length.

Furthermore, if you require an inspection of your vessel by 10 July 2020, Seafish in their letter recommend that you advise them as soon as possible. This is in order that Seafish can do their best to try and accommodate inspection requests.

The following letter from the MCA fully explains the transition.
