Industry Groups
To improve safety at sea and training, the WFA-CPC is an active member of the following Welsh and UK-wide fishing industry groups:
- Fishing Industry Safety Group (FISG) and sub groups:

- Officer of the Watch Apprenticeship Group
- Standards of Training and Certification and Watchkeeping (Fishing) Group
- Fishermen's Training Project Group (formerly Fishermen's Training Advisory Group)

- NFFO Safety Committee meetings
- The Fishermen’s Welfare Alliance
- The Welsh Seafish Industry Training Association Ltd

As a member of the following Seafish groups, the WFA-CPC presents the needs of the Welsh catching sector:
- Seafish Wales Advisory Committee (SWAC)
- Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme Oversight Board

Government Groups
As a member of the following Welsh and UK Government advisory groups, on behalf of our membership WFA-CPC informs and recommends measures to sustainably manage our marine natural resource:
- Wales Marine Action and Advisory Group (WMAAG)
- Wales Marine and Fisheries Advisory Group (WMFAG)
- Welsh Government Marine Planning Stakeholder Reference Group
- Welsh Government Assessing Welsh Fishing Activities

The establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WFA and NRW has led to a more collaborative approach to gather evidence to inform the following groups and work areas:

- Article 17 reporting rounds
- Marine Area Statements
- River Basin Management Plans
- Invasive Non-Native Species
- Marine Protected Areas
